GOLD COAST PR COUNCIL Announces Nominees for This Year’s Bernays Awards, Honoring Excellence by Local Public Relations & Marketing Professionals
GCPRC’s Prestigious Presidents Award 2021 Goes to Jorge Pesquera, CEO of Discover the Palm Beaches, for Publicly Promoting Local Tourism/Hospitality Industry During Pandemic
Bernays Award Winners Will Be Announced at FREE Zoom Ceremony on Tuesday, July 20, at 4pm.
(Boca Raton, Fla. – June 21, 2021) Melissa Pearlman, president of the Gold Coast PR Council (GCPRC), South Florida’s largest independent association of public relations, communications and marketing professionals, today announced this year’s Bernays Award nominees. GCPRC have given out these awards since 2005 honoring excellence in local public relations campaigns, marketing programs, and media coverage.
The honors will be presented at GCPRC’s 16th annual Bernays Awards on Tuesday, July 20, virtually via Zoom. Honors will be presented in 10 competitive categories and three special awards selected by the nonprofit organization’s board of directors,
Only one award winner is announced in advance, GCPRC’s prestigious Presidents Award, which is given to a person or organization for truly outstanding performance. This year’s recipient is Jorge Pesquera, President and CEO of Discover The Palm Beaches for showing outstanding leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic by aggressively promoting and protecting South Florida’s critical tourism/hospitality industry.
Previous winners of GCPRC’s Presidents Award include Sandy Collier of Hey Sandy! PR & Communications for publicizing the plight of evacuees from The Islands Of The Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian (2020); South Florida Sun-Sentinel for its brilliant and sensitive coverage of the Parkland school shooting and aftermath (2019); Buzz Agency co-founders Elizabeth Kelley Grace and Julie Mullen (2017); cultural reporters Rod Hagwood, Jan Sjostrom, and Leslie Streeter (2016); Boca Magazine publishers John & Margaret Mary Shuff (2015); and Florida Weekly and The Coastal Star (2014).
